Crypto Exchange Coinbase Adds Support for Gigachad (GIGA) and Two Additional Altcoins

Top US crypto exchange Coinbase has added support for three additional digital assets, including memecoin Gigachad (GIGA). Solana (SOL)-based GIGA, a crypto asset inspired by the photo shoot of Russian bodybuilder Ernest Khalimov, is up more than 39% from its $0.04911 low on Tuesday, the day it was listed on Coinbase. GIGA is trading for $0.06844 at time of writing. With a market cap of $657.9 million, Gigachad is the 183rd largest crypto project. Coinbase also added support for Magic Eden (ME) on the Solana network, a utility token for the Magic Eden non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace. Users can list their Solana-based NFTs for sale in ME and earn tokens from the sales as well, says the project. ME is trading for $5.15 at time of writing, down 12% in the last 24 hours. Base Network hits almost 2M transactions in a day, still trails Polygon, BSC

Base surpassed other layer-2 networks like Optimism and Arbitrum in terms of daily transactions but still lagged behind Polygon and BSC. German regulator BaFin suggests a 'case-by-case' approach for NFTs

Given the difficulties with classification, BaFin highlights the freedom of nonfungible tokens from licensing demands. Federal Financial Supervisory Authority of Germany (BaFin) is not ready to classify nonfungible tokens (NFTs) as securities yet. The Agency suggests classifying the NFTs on a case- by -case basis.  On March 8, the BaFin journal published an explanatory note considering NFTs and their legal classification. At this point, the regulators don’t see how NFTs correspond to the criteria of tradeability and standardization, which define securities. However, in the future, BaFin may consider NFTs as securities. For example, if 1,000 NFTs embody the same repayment and interest claims. According to another reservation, if an NFT contains documentation of exploitation rights or ownership, such as a promise of distribution, it could be considered an investment. 'Blur' Pushes NFT Volumes But Is Wash Trading Involved?

The NFT (Non-fungible Token) markets are seeing renewed interest from users. Towards the end of 2022, the space witnessed a significant decline in user activity. Now, according to Glassnode, NFT transactions have increased their overall gas consumption by 97% for the past two months. Activity levels are reaching those during the boom of the non-fungible space. The introduction of new collections by some of the biggest competitors has been credited for the renewed interest. Nonetheless, the events surrounding the Blur Airdrop are primarily responsible for the spike in gas demand over the past two weeks.
