On-chain analysts often interpret such large transfers to exchanges as a bearish signal since they typically suggest the holder may be preparing to sell. Large inflows to centralized exchanges can increase short-term selling pressure, which may negatively impact prices.  The April 15 transaction comes amid growing hype around a potential spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) approval.  XRP whale transfer to Coinbase. Image
Wall Street investment banking giant Morgan Stanley is reportedly considering adding crypto trading to its online E-trade brokerage platform. According to a Jan. 2 report by The Information, the wealth manager’s decision is based on the anticipated friendlier digital asset policy in the US under incoming President Donald Trump, who wants to make the US “the world’s crypto capital.” Morgan Stanly Could Challenge Coinbase’s Dominance In the Market Morgan Stanley completed its acquisition of E-Trade in 2020 through a $13 billion all-stock deal. If Morgan Stanley adds crypto trading to E-Trade, it would make it one of the biggest traditional retail brokerages to implement support for digital asset trading. This could lead to some healthy competition for the leading US crypto exchange, Coinbase. Other traditional brokerage firms such as Robinhood, Fidelity and Interactive brokers already offer crypto trading on their respective platforms. Meanwhile, Charl...

On September 21, Base experienced an outage, going through 20 minutes without producing any blocks, similar to Solana’s outages. The event went unnoticed in the cryptocurrency market, with a discreet communication labeling it “degraded performance ” – after it was resolved. However, the problem was bigger than a simple “degraded performance,” as Base had its block production stalled, being effectively down. Jesse Pollak, creator of Base and leading developer on Coinbase, explained it was the network’s second outage since its creation. Ethereum’s dominance to persist despite Solana’s investor appeal, Coinbase says

Although investors ‘have been heavily’ allocating to Solana throughout 2023, Ethereum will still be the top smart contracts platform in 2024, Coinbase says. In a new report titled “2024 Crypto Market Outlook,” Coinbase noted that throughout 2023 net fund inflows to Solana-related (SOL) investment funds were second only to Bitcoin (BTC), surpassing Ethereum (ETH) and other multi-asset funds flows. Analysts at the U.S.-based crypto exchange attributed the surge in Solana investment to the network’s ability to handle high transaction volumes and low fees, which they say are necessary to support a new wave of highly performant applications. “Indeed, we believe that improved transaction throughput and lower fees are necessary to improve UX to onboard a series of new use cases, and Solana has an early lead in that regard.” Coinbase You might also like: 21Shares: Avalanche, Solana, Uniswap topped crypto price growth in November Despite...
